  • Cholera represents a diarrheal disease caused by the Gram-negative bacterium Vibrio cholerae. Its environmental persistence causing recurring sudden outbreaks is enabled by V. cholerae’s rapid adaption to changing environments involving sensory proteins like ToxR and ToxS.
