Dark-operative protochlorophyllide oxidoreductase (DPOR) catalyzes the reduction of protochlorophyllide (Pchlide) to chlorophyllide (Chlide), a key penultimate step in the biosynthesis of bacteriochlorophyll. DPOR shares structural homology with nitrogenase and is made of electron donor (BchL) and electron acceptor (BchNB) component proteins.
