RNA polymerases (RNAPs) involved in gene transcription are found in all living organisms with
degrees of complexity ranging from single polypeptide chains to multimeric enzymes. In the
chloroplasts, the nuclear-encoded RNA polymerase and the plastid-encoded RNA polymerase (PEP)
