Abstract: Not only is the Internet of Things for energy applications, herein called the energy Internet of Things (eIoT), rapidly developing, but also the transition toward sustainable energy to abate global climate is very much at the forefront of public discourse. The 2016 COP21 Paris Agreement has committed to keep the increase in global average temperature to well below 2 ◦C. The 2018 report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change states that achieving such a goal would require “rapid, far reaching, and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society.”
